Lily and Simon

Finally got this up, been working on it bit by bit for a while. These two, of course, are Lily Paige and Simon Verona from my vampire novel Sanguine Promise.

A couple things I like about this picture...first it was fun to be able to draw things like zippers and modern clothing, as opposed to medieval fantasy style clothes Second, this picture contains two things I never draw: eyelashes and teeth. It was an experiment for me and it turned out better than I thought it would.

A few things I don't like...I found it hard to shade their skin properly, as both of their skintones are very pale. It made the shadows turn out a little darker than I intended, and the highlights didn't hardly show up. Also, I made a mistake on Lily's height while drawing and it was too late to fix it, she looks only about 6 inches shorter than Simon in this picture but she is actually a little over a foot shorter. Also, she is half Japanese, and I don't think that really came across in this drawing as much as I wanted it to. Though it's kinda hard to tell with her purple hair anyway.
